What is Borderline Personality Disorder?

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a serious mental illness characterized by pervasive instability in moods, interpersonal relationships, self-image, and behavior.

This instability often disrupts family and work life, long-term planning, and the individual's sense of self-identity. While less known than schizophrenia or bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness), BPD is more common, affecting 2% of adults, mostly young women.

Scientific Forum Site Offers Researchers

Communication and Collaboration

NEABPD's newest initiative is the www.bpdforum.com, an international online community for researchers to advance scientific knowledge on borderline personality disorder (BPD). The secure site offers a setting that fosters dialogue, networking, and the sharing of the most current BPD research. Opportunities exist for running dialogue, commentaries on recent publications, relevant scientific issues that impact BPD and its co-occurring disorders, articles in draft on which feedback may be offered, conference proceedings, and potential collaborations.
