Help Raise Awareness of BPD

1.

Raise your own awareness. Read through the many handouts mentioned on this page. Go to a conference. Family members can consider taking FAMILY CONNECTIONS. Watch one of the many videos on this website.

2.

Hang a POSTER or leave a FLYER or FACT SHEET at your local library, school counselor's office, doctor's waiting room, etc. as appropriate.

3.

Display the AWARENESS MONTH LOGO or BUMPER STICKER.

4.

Ask a local mental health support group to address BPD. Offer to speak or share HANDOUTS with the group. A one-hour video recorded at last year's Congressional Briefing provides an excellent overview of the disorder and serves as a discussion starter. First, click HERE to view the video online from our website. Then, if you choose, we can offer assistance in downloading the presentation, or can loan you a copy on DVD (supply is limited!). Email questions about this to webmaster@neabpd.org. For a listing of mental health support groups, see www.nami.org, or search the internet for others in your area. Or, consider starting a support group for BPD.

5.

Contact local mental health professionals and share HANDOUTS. Ask them to add the AWARENESS MONTH LOGO with a link to NEABPD resources for the month of May.

6.

Ask your local newspaper or radio or TV station to publicize Awareness Month. Use our PRESS RELEASE or adapt it to make your own.  Write a letter to the editor - or arrange a newspaper editorial or article, or a spot on a TV or radio show! For tips on approaching the media, click HERE.

7.

Add a signature line to your email stating "May is Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness Month" and include a link back to the resources on www.neabpd.org. For instructions, click HERE.
